Red7 Knowledgebase Software

What it Does

Red7 knowledgebase software gives workgroups and small companies the ability to organize their online information-seeking processes. Each knowledgebase consists of URLs chosen by workgroup members, and this information can be searched and can be embedded in other web sites created by the organization.

Making a Knowledgebase

When a workgroup member is working online and locates online information to share with the group, it only takes a quick click to save the URL. Information from the targeted web site is spidered, catalogued and indexed, and is almost immediately available to the entire group.

Group members can search the knowledgebase, and can create intelligent agents to periodically perform predefined searches and email the results to group members.

Embedding Knowledgebase Information in Your Web Site

Information in a knowledgebase can be made available to "guests" to be searched, and it can also be searched and embedded, in real time, in any web page you choose to create - public or private. No active interaction is required between your web server and the knowledgebase server - the information is retrieved and displayed automatically by the client browser and the knowledgebase server, based on criteria you embed in your web site!

Technical Information

The knowledgebase software is composed of Java servlets and an ODBC database, running on a central server. Any number of knowledgebases can be created on a server. An administrator can assign individuals to groups, to knowledgebases, and grant any of the various levels of administrative priviledge to each person. Individuals can use one, several, or all of the knowledgebases on a server.

Examples

Knowledgebase information is being collected by volunteers for The Dalai Lama Foundation, who are creating a knowledgebase for Peace and Ethics online. A public e-Learning knowledgebase is maintained by Clark Quinn and Jim Schuyler, and is available for public search (see the bottom of the panel on this page).
